• Basic browser and device information (via standard web server logs)

We do not use tracking cookies for advertising or sell your data to third parties.

We use the information you provide to:

• Respond to quote requests and follow up within 24 hours
• Schedule consultations and installations
• Send project-related communications (confirmation, scheduling, invoicing)
• Improve our services based on customer feedback

We do not use your information for unsolicited marketing, and we do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

4. Third-party services

Our website uses the following third-party services that may process your data:

• Netlify — hosts our website and processes form submissions. Data is transmitted securely via HTTPS. See Netlify's Privacy Policy.
• Google Fonts — loads fonts from Google's CDN. Google may log font requests. See Google's Privacy Policy.
• Google Analytics — we use Google Analytics to measure website traffic and understand how visitors find and use our site. Google may collect your IP address, browser type, and pages visited. See Google's Privacy Policy.
• Google Places API — used to display our Google reviews. No personal data from site visitors is sent to Google through this integration.
• Microsoft Clarity — we use Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors interact with our website. Clarity records anonymized session data including mouse movements, clicks, scrolls, and pages visited. This may include your IP address, browser type, and device information. Microsoft may store and process this data in accordance with their own privacy policy. No personally identifiable information you submit through our forms is shared with Clarity. • Meta (Facebook) Pixel — we use Meta Pixel to measure the effectiveness of our advertising and understand visitor activity on our site. Meta may collect your IP address, browser information, and pages visited. See Meta's Privacy Policy.
• Resend — we use Resend as our email delivery service to send quote confirmations and follow-up communications. When you submit a quote request, your name and email address are transmitted to Resend for email delivery. See Resend's Privacy Policy.
• Gouly (Third-Party Lighting Control App) — the lighting control application provided to clients for managing their installed LED system is a third-party product developed and operated independently of Starise Lighting Inc. Starise has no access to, control over, or knowledge of what personal data, usage data, device information, or other information the Gouly app may collect from your device or account. By downloading and using the Gouly app, you are subject to Gouly's own privacy policy and terms of service. Starise is not responsible for any data collection, data practices, or privacy incidents arising from your use of the Gouly app. See Gouly's Privacy Policy.

5. Data retention

We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purpose for which it was collected — typically for the duration of our business relationship and up to 3 years after our last interaction, unless a longer retention period is required by law.

Quote requests that do not result in a project are typically deleted within 12 months.

6. Your rights

Under PIPEDA and PIPA, you have the right to:

• Know what personal information we hold about you
• Request a copy of your personal information
• Request correction of inaccurate information
• Request deletion of your personal information (subject to legal obligations)
• Withdraw consent to our use of your information (where consent is the basis for processing)

7. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, or misuse. Our website uses HTTPS encryption. Form submissions are transmitted securely via Netlify's encrypted infrastructure.

No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. If you have concerns about transmitting sensitive information, please contact us by phone instead.

8. Children's privacy

Our services are intended for homeowners and adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under 18 years of age. If you believe a child has submitted information to us, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

9. Marketing & Communications Consent

By submitting a quote request, contacting us by phone or email, or engaging our services, you expressly consent to being contacted by Starise Lighting Inc. via phone, SMS/text message, and email for the following purposes:

• Following up on your quote request
• Scheduling and confirming installation appointments
• Sending invoices and payment reminders
• Sharing seasonal promotions, new product announcements, or service updates
• Requesting reviews or feedback after project completion

You may opt out of promotional communications at any time by replying "STOP" to any SMS or emailing contact@co-starise.com. Opting out of marketing does not affect transactional or service-related communications.

10. Use of Testimonials & Reviews

Any review, testimonial, rating, feedback, or comment you submit to Starise — whether through Google, our website, email, text message, or any other channel — may be reproduced, published, edited for length or clarity, and used by Starise Lighting Inc. in any marketing or promotional material, including but not limited to the website, social media, printed materials, and advertising. Your first name and general neighbourhood may be included alongside your testimonial. You will not receive compensation for the use of your testimonial.

If you do not wish your review or testimonial to be used for marketing, you must notify us in writing at contact@co-starise.com.

11. Photography & Installation Media

As outlined in our Terms of Service (Section 23), Starise Lighting Inc. may photograph and video record completed installations for use in marketing, advertising, and portfolio materials. Such media may be published on our website, social media, and third-party platforms. No personally identifying information (such as your name or exact address) will be published alongside installation photos without your explicit written consent.

If you do not consent to photography of your property, you must provide written notice prior to your installation date.

12. Aggregated & Anonymized Data

Starise may compile, use, and share aggregated or anonymized data derived from customer interactions, project data, and site usage for internal analytics, business planning, industry research, and marketing purposes. Such data does not identify individual clients and is not subject to the restrictions in this Privacy Policy.

13. Third-Party Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. However, we may share your information with trusted third parties in the following circumstances:

• Service providers — companies that assist with business operations (e.g., form processing, email delivery, scheduling software) under confidentiality obligations
• Legal compliance — where required by law, regulation, court order, or government authority
• Business transfers — in the event of a merger, acquisition, asset sale, or reorganization, your personal information may be transferred to the acquiring entity as part of the transaction
• Protection of rights — where necessary to enforce our Terms of Service, protect our legal rights, or prevent fraud or harm

14. Limitation of Liability for Data Incidents

While Starise takes reasonable steps to protect your personal information, no system is completely secure. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Starise shall not be liable for any damages, losses, or costs arising from unauthorized access to, disclosure of, or destruction of your personal information where such incident occurs despite Starise's reasonable security measures.

In the event of a privacy breach that poses a real risk of significant harm, we will notify affected individuals and the relevant regulatory authority as required under PIPEDA and PIPA.

15. Retention at Our Discretion

While we aim to retain data only as long as necessary, Starise reserves the right to retain your personal information for longer periods where:

• Retention is required or permitted by applicable law
• Retention is necessary for the establishment, exercise, or defence of legal claims
• Retention serves a legitimate business purpose such as warranty administration, dispute resolution, or fraud prevention

For material changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify active clients. Continued use of our website or services after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy. 1. About the app

The Starise Lighting app is a business tool used by Starise Lighting Inc. team members and authorized sales representatives to prepare quotes, contracts, and related project documents for customers. It is not a consumer account-based service — the app does not require you to create an account, and it does not sign you in to any online service.

2. Information the app collects and stores

The app only stores information that a Starise representative enters into it while preparing a quote or contract:

• Customer and project details — customer name, property address, phone number, email address, project line items, pricing, and deposit/payment records
• Photos — property and project photos taken with the device camera or selected from the device gallery, used in the scope-of-work and marketing pages of generated documents
• Electronic signatures — customer and representative signatures captured on-device when a contract is signed
• Team PIN — a PIN chosen by the team to lock access to the app, stored on the device

The app does not collect your location, contacts, call logs, messages, advertising identifiers, or any analytics or usage-tracking data. It contains no advertising and no third-party analytics or tracking SDKs.

3. How this information is used

• Generating quote and contract documents (PDFs) for customers
• Tracking quote, deposit, and installation status within the app
• Displaying project photos and testimonials inside generated documents

Customer information handled through the app is used only for Starise Lighting's business purposes described in our Website privacy policy, in compliance with PIPEDA and the Alberta PIPA. It is never sold, rented, or used for third-party marketing.

4. Where your data is stored

All information entered into the app is stored on the device itself. Generated contract PDFs are saved to the device's Downloads folder so they can be attached to an email. The app does not upload your photos, signatures, or customer details to Starise servers or to any third-party analytics service.

5. App permissions

• Camera — used only when a representative chooses to take a project photo. The app never accesses the camera in the background.
• Photos / media / storage (Android 12 and earlier) — used to attach photos from the gallery and to save generated PDF documents to the Downloads folder.
• Internet & network state — used to load the app's software components securely over HTTPS. The app does not transmit customer data in the background.

6. Sharing and third parties

• Email — when a representative sends a quote or contract, the app opens the email application chosen by the representative (e.g., Gmail, Outlook, Apple Mail, Yahoo). The email and its attachments are then handled by that email provider under its own privacy policy. The app itself does not send emails.
• Content delivery networks — the app loads its software libraries from reputable CDNs (unpkg and Cloudflare cdnjs). Like any web request, these services may log your device's IP address when the libraries are fetched. No customer data, photos, or documents are sent to these services.

Beyond the above, information in the app is only disclosed where required by law, or as described in the "Third-Party Disclosure" section of our Website privacy policy.

7. Security

• Access to the app is protected by a team PIN.
• All network traffic uses HTTPS — the app blocks unencrypted (cleartext) connections.
• Data stays on the device, protected by your device's own lock screen and encryption.

Because documents and photos are stored on the device, team members are required to keep their devices locked and secured. If a device is lost, the customer data on it can be removed remotely only through the device platform's own tools (e.g., Google's Find My Device).

8. Data retention and deletion

• Quotes, contracts, photos, and signatures remain on the device until a representative deletes them in the app or the app is uninstalled. Uninstalling the app removes all app data from the device (saved PDFs in the Downloads folder must be deleted separately).
• Customers may request access to, correction of, or deletion of their personal information held by Starise — including information entered into the app — by contacting us at contact@co-starise.com or 587-885-6658. We will respond within 30 days.

9. Children's privacy

The app is a business tool intended for adults and is not directed at children under 13 (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the app.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this app privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this section. Material changes will be reflected here before or when an updated version of the app is released.
